Two of the most popular payment portals around, Apple Pay and Google Pay, will soon support cryptocurrency payments. Customers on both these platforms will be able to make these transactions.
This was announced by BitPay, which is currently one of the world’s largest providers of cryptocurrency services. The company confirmed the arrival of its BitPay Prepaid Mastercard support for three of the most popular wallets.
With this integration, BitPay card holders can make secure purchases in stores, online, and in apps. Customers waiting for the delivery of their plastic cards also have the option of adding their virtual card to the wallet, and start spending immediately.
BitPay CEO Stephen Pair:
“We have thousands of BitPay Wallet app customers using the BitPay Card who are always looking for new places and ways to spend their crypto. Adding Apple Pay and soon Google and Samsung Pay makes it easy and convenient to use the BitPay Card in more places from day-to-day items to luxury purchases.”
While integration with Apple Pay is online, support for Google Pay and Samsung Pay is planned for later this quarter.
This is not the first time a popular payment service got support for cryptocurrency payments. Coinbase announced back in 2020 that users on Android could use its Coinbase card on Google Pay to make payments with the cryptocurrency.
Now, things are simply kicking up a gear.
