Coinbase Card now works with Apple Pay, Google Pay

Competition for crypto payments is picking up! Coinbase Card can now sync with Apple Pay as well as Google Pay, making it easier for card holders to pay for goods and services using cryptocurrencies.

The crypto exchange confirmed this integration on Tuesday.

Additionally, it also revealed that it will begin offering cash back spending reward features to people in the wait list this week. The card is available across the United States, with the exception of Hawaii, while a variant already rolled out in European markets in 2019.

Coinbase will allow customers to begin earning up to 4% back in crypto awards:

“Millions of people around the world use Apple Pay or Google Pay for everyday purchases, from grocery deliveries to pet supplies to home office goods. Now, you can earn up to 4% back in crypto rewards on this shopping when you use your Coinbase Card with Apple Pay or Google Pay.”

The company explained that it will automatically covert all cryptocurrency to US dollars, and transfer funds to your Coinbase Card for use in purchases and ATM withdrawals, minus conversion fees.

Google Pay users can add their Coinbase Card from the Google Pay app, and Apple Pay users can do the same from the Apple Wallet app or from within the Coinbase app.

For those of you unaware, Coinbase Card is a Visa debit card, with no application fees. Customers can start using the card immediately after being approved. It works by converting the cryptocurrency balances of the users to fiat at point of sale.

This essentially allows them to pay with crypto at any card accepting merchant.
